Thursday 3/16 Meeting:

Presenter:

Thomas Babor, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Public Health Sciences UCONN, will share his response to NIAAA communications with the alcohol industry in relation to Mitchell and McCambridge. (See Tom Babor’s editorial here)

A recent study published by Dr. Gemma Mitchell and Dr. Jim McCambridge in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs examines recent interactions between NIAAA staff and alcohol companies and organizations from 2013-2020. Email correspondence obtained by FOIA request outlines the willingness of NIAAA to cooperate with industry requests and provide expertise to further industry interests. (Link to JSAD Article)
